Ted's Story

Hi Kids, I'm a Rocket Scientist. In college, like high school, my grades were unimpressive, but I learned the right stuff. I was in the computer business for 20 years, then decided rockets are more cool ... I worked on a few here & there. Right now, I'm just hangin' out in 39466. STORY WIZARD: 1) How do you hope old friends remember you? I hope that old friends will remember me as outgoing and friendly. I wasn't, however. 2) I always wanted to be a genius when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was an excellent idea. As it turns out, they were correct. 3) How do you blow off steam? Describe your favorite way to relax: I blow off steam with a Tyco Series 900 OMNI-TRIM® Relief Valve, manufactured to ASME Code Section III for nuclear-related applications. Maximum Temperature: 750°F Maximum Pressure: 5,000 psig My favorite way to relax is to go to sleep. 4) What's the wildest thing you ever did in school? I used to enjoy walking into a classroom late, when the door was already locked. 5) If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have fun, a coin or two, and someone else to be able to deal with the day-to-day. 6) Do you have a hero? Talk about where your inspiration comes from. Hmm ... physicist, Richard Feynman, perhaps. He was smart, cool, and taught complex subjects in simple language. 7) Where have you lived? Why did you move? Miami, South Texas, Denver, Miami, South Mississippi ... I moved for work. 8) The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is undetermined, because I've given the question no thought. 9) Sports. Reality TV. Pets. Share your obsessions. I am obsessed with avoiding obsession. 10) Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise? I thought I was really smart, but greatly underestimated myself. I continue to be appalled by the degree that most persons fail to distinguish between belief and knowledge 11) If I could improve my home, I'd remodel and add on a hyper-drive. My dream home would be in space. 12) Parent? Share...Expand for more
what you've learned from your kids. Parent? Not me! I learned that kids grow up and believe what they are expected to believe, independent of what's true. I suspected this 50 years ago, however. 13) Which teacher would you love to see again? Why? Ms. Beall, 6th grade. She realized that the curriculum was entirely inappropriate for me. There were a couple of others who realized this. 14) If I won $100 million, I'd give $1.00 of it to Uncle Sam, then spend the rest on whatever I please. 15) Ever live in a dorm? Join the Greek system? Talk about campus life. My first semester at FIT, I was in a dorm on the floor occupied by the largest fraternity on campus. I was thereby enlightened, and was disinclined to join any fraternity. 16) To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom? I would be doing what I'm doing with whom I'm doing it. 17) My current age is 57. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely correct. ************************************* Unless you are lucky, I will add to this sometime. ************************************* 18) Working hard? Reveal your career aspirations. 19)What happened to your first crush? I got crushed. 20) My best friend would tell you I'm , but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as . 21) Still dress like you did 10 (or 20) years ago? Talk style. 22) What's the weirdest job you ever had? All of them. 23) I share my home with , which I find . 24) Got trophies on your mantel? Share a big victory. 25) You get one do-over. What do you do differently? I would not have returned the time-turner to Dumbledore. 26) In 10 years, I hope to be comfortable. I'm going to get there by leaving the planet. 27) Talk about your oldest friend, how you met and why you clicked. 28) What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion? 29) My first job was at , where I got paid to . What I remember most about it is . 30) Share a childhood memory you'll never forget. Maybe later.
