(found the tumor on my way to Afghanistan!) AAAAAAAaaaaannnd...I'm home again!!!!! 10 May 2008-check facebook-Teddy Grijalva-UPDATE-Guess I'm feeling good about the mission...just re-upped for 6 more yrs on Veterans Day-Currently overseas (In Taji,Iraq,Force Protection)Previous Deployment,Block Sergeant,Guantanamo Bay,(and no,no torture chambers and yes,I got along with about 90% of those guys) I work for the City of Davis Public Works Dept.about 25 yrs, thinking seriously about retirement,I think mainly because after responding to citizen complaints for so many years and compared to this stuff,It seems to be such a petty bubble of a community,if you could even call it that....those people don't know what they have!...anyway, I digress,I was a freelance Cartoonist and Illustrator, did 10 yrs in the active Army(1976 on up,)5 more in the Reserves, thought I was done,Sept 11th happened and after a 14 yr layoff joined the National Gaurd ...now with the city for 20 yrs.....worked for a kids show in Sacramento,(Scripts and Storyboards)before the 2 children,13yr old boy and 8 yr. old girl, were born, former bouncer for a bar in Davis,(pretty fun),former DJ(weekends, midnite to 8 am .totally reeked) along with brother Frank finally found birth family,12yrs ago with 9 bro's and sis's,granparents etc.. the Grijalvas from Brentwood/Antioch,(on my 32nd B-day no less)am now in Woodland, graduated at Woodland High in 76,looking for old friends(they know who they are)have already heard and ...Expand for more
am looking forward to hearing from some more old friends from school and military -you're never to old for an adventure !! Military first I joined the Infantry in June 1976,after basic and AIT,worked in a combat support unit at Ft. Lewis,Wa. as a TOW unit (Wire Guided Missle)went to basic at Ft.Leonard Wood,Mo. AIT at Ft. Benning Ga.then transferred to Ft. Ord Ca. 2-32nd Inf,was a Tow and Dragon instructor, went to JOTC Jungle Warfare School at Ft Sherman, Panama, liked it so much I stayed a few more months.went right to Germany,Bamberg in Mech Infantry,I was starting to have enough,I was made a Sergeant of the Gaurd for post Security (Gate Gaurds, during the Baader-Meinhoff gang bombings)worked for the Bamberg times newspaper as a Cartoonist, came home worked at ft Benning for a bit,got out, went back in in the Reserves, did about 5 years as a Drill Sergeant, got burnt out and divorced, played with the idea about going back in for about 15 yrs,Sept.11th happened and it made up my mind to join the gaurd to support all the young men and women going to war,I would deal with looters and flood support...and then I got my orders so here I am 3 years later and 46 yrs old sitting in a foreign land babysitting with bad guys....yeeeehaH!!!Update...also working with the Navy at the local radio station doing voiceovers and radio spots 103.1 The Blitz and doing a headbanger show on Sat. nites(when given lemons...make lemonade)now returned to Woodland Ca. Update on the update: now 49 about to turn 50 and going out every night to see who wants to play in Taji,Iraq, where I take out 12 guys everynight for a little walk amid climbing exercise and I just signed up for 6 more years now 50 and trying to adapt to civilian life without braining somebody!
