Teresa (Terry)'s Story
Life
I was not the most popular person in school. As a matter of fact my big mouth got me beat up in elementary and junior high school more then I care to remember.
Since graduation from high school I worked for 6 years in an insurance co. Met my husband in 1977 amd married in 1981. He joined the navy and we spent 5 years going from Scotia NY to Great Lakes to Norfolk VA.
Our daughter was born in the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA
He left the navy in 1985. We moved back to NY where we have been ever since. He worked for the electric co. Now retired. Happy to play as much video games as he likes.
I am active in the church as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and substute Sunday School teacher. Taught Sunday school for 20 years. I'm now in the bereavment ministry. I help the family plan the funeral mass. And attend funerals of people who have no family.
Spent 20 years in childcare. But had to "retire" due to health problems.
Then cashiered at an office supply company. Only to find that I have no business dealing with money.
I worked as a home health aide. For two women who remind me of my grandmother. Who have since gone home to heaven.
Our daughter finshed college and worked at Mcdonalds as a manager. Like father like daughter my husbands first job was at Mcdonalds.
Now she has decided to work at Sam's club. Where she is a manager. She is better with food and money. They she got tired of working nights. She now works for a m maintenance agency.
It just occurred to me that Yikes!!! I am now the family Matriarch.
November 2005 I became a grandmother. Anastasia has light up my life like her mother does. In 2010 another light was added our grandson Bradley. And in 2013 another light was added our youngest grandchild Samantha.
I had open heart surgery in May of 2007 with all sorts of complications. Now I work at home and take care of Anastasia, Bradley and Samantha while their parents work.
We lost my father this past November 2012.
Here are answers to the story ideas.
If I ever turn up at a reunion you would be surprised how fat one can get. I have since lost weight and am within 15 pound of what the charts say I should be.
I hope my old friends remember me with kindness and realize I wasn't nuts just a little eccentric.
To be truly happy I would be right here doing what I have been doing all along with my family.
My biggest surpise is that I made it to 60. And that I had open heart surgery and a near death experience.
If I had a do over I would be more diligent on keeping in touch with my friends. I would be more trustworthy.
The weirdest job I ever had had to be in the Childcare center it was my job to dispose of the diapers( I don't want to go into details just in case someone is reading this while eating.)
School
Went to ps 135 from 1962 to 1969
Thank you Mrs Kerner, Miss Gershon, Mrs. Klien, Miss Kahn, Mrs. Landers, Mr. Matheson, Mr. Meyerwro...Expand for more
witz, Mr. Mann, Mrs Meyerwrowitz and Mrs Burger for putting up with me.
Went to Winthrop JHS 232 from 1969 to 1971. I'll always keep a soft spot in my heart for Mr Costanza, Mr. Blum and Miss Gilman. Got transferred to Meyer Levin JHS 285 for the remainder of the school year. Mr Harley of the Rap room I am greatful for keeping me from suicide.
Then on to the hallowed halls of Tilden High fron 1972 to 1975 the greatest years of my whole school experience. I finally got school then I had to leave.
And on to the school of hard knocks.
The teacher I would like to see agian is Mr. Costanza I had a crush on him. He made Winthrop bearable.
the wildest thing I ever did in school was sliding down the banisters in elementary school. That was fun.

Military
If you consider being a former Navy Wife military. then I guess I qualify.
we were in Ballston Spa Ny for the first 9 month of our marraige
then to Great Lakes (naval base outside of Chicago) or as Sam puts it "great mistakes" for two years.
and then the last two years we were in Norfolk Va.
I was active in the Navy Wives club. it felt good to be around women in the same "boat" as me.
I always wanted to be teacher when I grew up. Didn't make it. But being a Sunday School teacher fills that need,
My favorite way to relax is a good nap.
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have clean clothes, a positive attitude, and my rosary beads to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Miss Kahn Third grade teacher, because I want to apologize for being such a rotten kid..
I love silent moves
My current age is 62. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be over the hill. I was so completely wrong. You are only as young as you feel.
My first crush is here and doing well. Hope things continue to go well for you Gerry.
as long as there are long broom skirts and comfy tee shirts I'm happy. Also a nice ftting pair of jeans work well for me.
I share my home with my husband, daughter, Son in Law ,Three grandchildren,4 cats, and 2 turtles. (Can you say busy happening household?). Joe, My only surviving brother comes to visit every once in a while.
