eological Survey, working with roads and hydro data, then the Census Bureau, doing geographic work leading up to and following on from the 1990 decennial census. Then, in 1991, back to US Geological Survey in Reston, VA, where I was until March 2009, when, I took an early retirement at 51 with 26 years of federal service. Scary with the economy the way it is, but also an opportunity that if not taken probably would not pass this way again.
