My Pets
Right now I have four cats - all strays that I've taken in (thanks to my warm-hearted kids!). We have one we rescued from an interstate bridge during the ice storm on Christmas Day, 1999, just outside Matthews, Virginia, on our way back to Indiana. Someone threw her out of a truck right in front of us. On Christmas! So, we stopped traffic, and my oldest son jumped out (barefoot, in shorts), and she came right up to him. So, she made the trip home, and we named her Candy Cane...
My Kids
Three very smart, very creative kids who are at a huge disadvantage in the little red-neck town I live in now. They're pretty self-sufficient (I'm a single working mom), and we're struggling to...Expand for more
get them an education a little further north. (Our school here has sports - and nothing else. No art, no music (except marching band!). I really miss the music/drama program at Langley - they would have shone there!
My Job
Okay, I tried to make it sound cool - but right now I'm working as a manager/bartender in a little local bar two blocks from my home. The money is actually excellent, since we have a new casino seven miles down the road, and all the employees relax at our bar (they know how to tip!). The music's good (I get to sing with the bands now and then), the money's good, and I can spend a lot more time with my kids than I could with my "professional" job (in mortgage banking).
