Terry Lynn's Story
Life
November 2007.
Time flies by so quickly. Jim and I celebrated our 5th Anniversary last month. It seems like we've been together forever. We're still living in our beautiful apartment in Upper Manhattan, though I'm itching for another bedroom and a little more space.
Though I'm still doing the musical theater thing, I'm also venturing into a new outlet for singing in February. I'm booked at a club on Friday nights and the owner is encouraging me to put together a whole show for the main cabaret room. Eeek!
Nothing else to report, at the moment.
I hope you are all having a wonderful life. I would love to hear about it.
School
I went to St. Vincent's De Paul first through sixth grades. My favorite teachers there were; Mrs. Butler, Ms. King and Sister Helen. My fondest memories are boy/girl parties at Kim's, singing with Rich during music and playing catch and kiss on the playground.
Duberson was lots of fun. Between choir and Mrs. Farley's Lolipop Club, it seems that we were hardly ever in class. My favorite memory would be playing Ophelia in Mrs. Pomato's English Class. Hamlet was played by Eric Albanesse.
Oakcrest High School... What to say? Made some good friends, had a few good heart breaks and learned a lot about life, outside the classroom.
My real education...Expand for more
in theater and music came after high school. When I learned from the best, that there is a technique to acting and singing.
I appreciate all the experiences I've had. They help make us who we are.
College
After graduating Oakcrest High School, I began taking classes at ACCC. After winning The Shelby Leigh Griffith Memorial Acting Scholarship, I continued my theatrical studies at acting studios in New York City. I enjoyed the few years I spent at ACCC. I had the oppurtunity to study with fabulous teachers in the performing arts, Sue Griffith and Doctor Ola Gathers. I had the oppurtunity to do interesting work and forged my own theater company with the friends I made there. I also met my husband at ACCC's Walter Edge Theater, and for that I am truly thankful!
Workplace
November 2007.
Work is a funny thing. The main part of my job is auditioning, studying/preparing, and keeping fit. But none of that pays the bills!
So, my weird acting day job, is as a standardized patient. You doctors know what I mean. I play different cases for doctors to practice on. The characters are intense - drug addict, domestic abuse victim, a woman on the brink of suicide. Whew! I guess I'm getting practice for a night time drama. Keep an eye out for me on Grey's Anatomy, or something!
