Terry's Story
Life
Always wanted to be a Conservation Officer (game warden). Worked for the Department of Lands & Forests from 1965 to 1967. In 1968 went to the Ontario Forest Technical School in Dorset and graduated that year. Worked in Wawa in 1969 and then went to the fish hatchery at Sandfield on Manitoulin Island at the end of 1969. Worked at the hatchery until 1971 when I became a Conservation Officer on Manitoulin. Worked as a C.O. there until 1980 when I transferred to Parry Sound. ad "3 jobs". Got caught in the reorganization of the early 1990's. Became a Senior Technician and worked at the job until I retired in 1998 under the Factor 80 program with 31 years service. I have always collected old bottles found by digging dumps and by scuba diving. Now I do that full time by also going to garage sales, flea markets and antique shops, as well as thrift shops. And then I sell and buy on Ebay which has really turned into a full time hobby/job!!! Am really upset that MNR has cancelled the publication of its internal magazine ASKI. Now retirees have NO IDEA as to who has retired or who has died (or promoted or transfered).
