Thelma's Story

Life My husband Carl and I have lived in upstate central New York for over 30 years. He is a retired Air Force Senior Master Sargeant and also retired from upper managment at a bus manufacturing company. After doing consulting work for 2 years he's now the Operations Manager at another manufacturing company. Sometime soon he'll finally retire for the last time. I worked for 20 years as a secretary but withdrew from the work force to stay home and be happy - which I am. We have 2 children. Tim is 46, lives in San Francisco and works in the construction industry. Michelle is 39, lives here in Westmoreland with her husband and works for an insurance company. They adopted a lovely little girl who they named Ellen Noel (or Ellie)and we are all lavishing her with love and care. She was born 2007. Until she started Kindergarten I watched her everyday and we played out on her swing set whenever possible and went to "Rough N Tumble" to play on the jungle gym they have. We have a lot of fun together and she makes me smile all day long! So darn cute and SO smart! She is 6, LOVES the water, and can do flips off the side of the pool which we are in every day that it's warm. I am also the grandmother of a lovely 19 year old girl named Ashley Tonya. She lived in Texas with her mother until she was 9, when she moved to Oakland to live with her dad. She's been back in Houston for 4 years now so I haven't seen much of her, but she gets lots of cards and gifts. In 1999 we had an in-ground pool installed and have lots of fun during the summer. In the winter we used to snowmobile on the trails of Old Forge, NY, but gave that up to our neuropathied feet. My daughter showed hunter/jumpers on the quarter horse circuit for 17 years and went to the Youth World Quarter Horse Championship Show twice, the second trip winning an 8th out of 66 entries in Hunter Hack. We still have Fox and will continue to care for him until he passes on. He's a wonderful guy who is now over 30 years old. Although I never graduated from any college, I've attended several, most prominently Utica College of Syracuse University where I'm considered a Sophomore. I no longer work at the college so have stopped taking courses (which were free). Classmates requires a graduation year so I pu...Expand for more
t in 2000 but that's not accurate or true! My husband and I are into model railroads and have both an O-27 layout inside and a large G Scale garden railroad in the yard. You can see video of both by going to YouTube.com and searching for NYCramer. I hope everyone is as happy as we are, and I hope to hear from some of you soon. I attended the Grand Alumni Reunion in August of 2002 and it was great. Too many people and too loud but I still had fun and danced the night away! You should have been there! I organized the 2005 40th reunion for the 64, 65 & 66 classes of Wilson and the only things I've heard from people have been good! This was a reunion that you will be very sorry you missed. It was truly wonderful. Everyone was smiling and laughing and seeing friends from 40 years ago! So wonderful. We repeated this reunion in Sept 2010 and it was equally well received. In 2015 we will celebrate our 50th reunion! Please plan to join us. School I loved high school. I wish I had been more involved while there though. I consider those years the best of my younger life. I loved going to dances, going to football games, singing with the choir and Mr. Ruddy, and hanging with my friends at lunch. We had such a good time. Mostly I wish that I hadn't been so shy around boys and maybe dated more. Oh well!! College I went to CCSF for one semester after high school, then started working as a telephone operator. I loved that. While working at a University in my 40's I took a course every semester. Workplace I've held many jobs but all in the same general area: telephone operator, switchboard operator, receptionist, accounting clerk, and secretary. I also spent 7 years as a bridal shop seamstress. I'm a jack of all trades and consider myself a do-it-yourselfer at home improvements. My favorite job is what I'm doing right now, homemaker. Military As the wife of a career Air Force man, retiring in 1986 as a Senior Master Sargeant, we had an interesting and happy life. We've lived in Hawaii, Maine, Nebraska and several times in New York where we've retired. He spent 1 year in Thailand which was awful, but we survived. I spent that year at home with my folks (bad idea!!). Our son was born in Hawaii and our daughter in Maine. The Air Force was good to us!
