Theresa's Story
Life
Currently residing in Sacramento area. Have been a Probation Officer for Sac county for 17 years. Was in the Army for a total of 16 years. I attended the last reunion (20th) back in 1990 but haven't heard of any since. Would love to see all before we start to become unrecognizable! :) I married , divorced and have a lovely daughter who married in 2002. Now I am a proud Grandma to an adorable almost 2 yr old grandson !! I have lived in Europe and have had a wonderful, active life and plan to continue doing so! There have been some downs such as losing my sister Karen to cancer in 1994, a good friend Patty Marr shortly after that , then my ex-husband Michael on near his 47th birthday in 1999. But on the other hand, I have gained, a son-in-law, my grandson, a new niece and 3 grandnephews! My job is demanding but pays for my lifestyle. I own a lovely home with a yard that is ever lovingly tended to. I have wonderful friends who care about me. Life is good !
Workplace
After HS I did the usual, waittress, serving food and serving cocktails in Reno Carson City. then after I graduated from UNR it was active duty, Civil service then since landing here in Sacramento, one year as the only social worker for a 184 bed convalescent ctr in Auburn. I started with Sac Cty probation at the end of 1989 and have stuck it out since ! Can't say the work is v...Expand for more
ery rewarding or glamorous but it pays fairly well and I never have time to be bored! I see so many of the social problems up close and personal that it is often drifting over into the way I see my world around me. Sometimes I wish I could make a difference....maybe in politics ? Who knows...it's not too late to start!
Military
I started in the NV Natl Guard back in 1975 as a medic: Boot camp Ft Jckson SC, Carson City, 150th Med Co, later moved unit to Winnemucca. Then to OCS but I wanted active duty so transferred to UNR-ROTC. Went active duty w/ Field Artillary comission in 1980. Officer Basic at Ft Sill OK, specialty Pershing. Then to Germany , Schwaebisch Gmuend, in June 1981, 1/41st BN, where I was Platoon Ldr for Ammo Platoon, Security Plt and I was the BN Ammo Officer. Then I was Exe Off. for sub-community. I left active duty (due to the cut-backs) and relocated to Bad Krueznach where I ran the Military Testing unit (part of DET) and was a part-time teacher for the Unver. of Texas-overseas, teaching 100 level classes for CJ. During this time I was assigned as a CPT to S3 in Heidelburg and Patton Bk, Stuttgart (7th Army Corps) as an IMA Reserve officer. In 1988 I returned to the USA, CA where I eventually picked up a command with the 91st Training Div, HQ company in Sacramento from 1990-94. Proud to have been a member of the "ARMY of One" !!!
