Theresa's Story
Life (updated 2/16/09)
I have 3 wonderful children, 2 girls and a boy, a step-son, and a very handsome grandson. My oldest, Jess, is married (1 year today), her husband is in the La Nat'l Guard, and they live in Texas not far from Shreveport. Janine, my second oldest and mother of my precious grandson (Conner, 1 yr old on 2/18/09), is back in Bossier City. My step-son, CJ, age 13, lives with his mom in Kentucky. My son is here (Ohio), fourth grade and playing football, he loves it. We are still making improvement on our home, love the privacy of the property. I've lived in many places due to the military, I guess Ohio is where I will stay since it's birthplace and home to my husband, although, I would LOVE to go South again, much warmer weather in the winter. I think about Alexandria often (the memories),no more family ties. Gulfport, Ms was considered HOME to me since my dad & brother (who have since passed on) moved their shortly after HS graduation and it's where I met my husband while he was serving in the US Navy Seabee's. (met Brett shortly after my divorce from Gary). My mom is now in St. Louis, Mo (where she was born/raised and I was born).
School
Graduated from Bolton High and proud of it. Class of '85, yea!! Loved the Band, I know, band geek. Mr. Gadd, the best band director, will never forget him. To all my friends from BHS, I will never forget you either. Found one of you living fairly close in Pennsylva...Expand for more
nia. Would like to get in touch w/ the rest of you via email or IM.
College
Attended Kent State University in Ohio (nursing school recently rated in the top 10 in the U.S.), the extended campus in East Liverpool. Graduated in 2002. Missed out on the true college experience w/ dorms, frats, etc by not doing this right after high school, but I think I set the example for my kids by showing them 'not to do things backwards in life' college first then marriage and kids. Wonderful nursing program at Kent State. I was an officer for my class and student nursing association. Made a lot of friends during this time and keep up with most of them yet. I'm currently working w/ 3 of my classmates.
Workplace (updated 2/16/09)
Gave up my position as charge nurse, at East Liverpool City Hospital Med Surg Unit to take a position in Surgery (love it). I'm a member of Ohio Nurses Association. All nurses at this hospital are members of the ONA. Experienced my first strike at the end of my first year of employment. Never before had I known about how unions work, now I know and learned the hard way. Love my job as an RN and taking care of my neighbors. As this is a small hospital, it's common to see one of your neighbors as a patient. I have been employed w/ this hospital since I graduated nursing school and will probably retire from this hospital, unless we move (south?, here's hoping). Could do w/out the cold and snow of the North.
