Terri's Story
Life
I have a new book out. This one deals mostly with the way kids take things that they see and hear, and the fact that most people don't find out for years what the kid was really thinking at the time. Also points out how the kid finally found out the truth, either by learning to read or bringing up the subject to someone and being set clear on the facts. Definitely points out what NOT to do to your kids! And, it includes a few incidents by adults in their second childhood, including, "Grandma Meets Woody Woodpecker"! Bad girl, she was - couldn't take her anyplace nice.
I've also acquired a cat recently; Molly belonged to a lady who died at 97 a month or so ago. The lady's daughter is someone I've known for about 8 or 9 years, and had been coming over every day to dress my dad's foot wounds while my mom was in Manor Care. (DON'T PUT ANYBODY IN THAT PLACE! IT'S RUN BY HITLERETTE AND HER SUBJECTS!) I don't do socks or feet, so my friend volunteered. My parents had always said they would never have another dog or cat in the house, but they caved after receiving so much help from the kitty's big sister. Molly hangs around me the most; squints at my mom and doesn't spend much time around my dad since she's not used to men much. She's been coming downstairs a little more often the last week.
I also have 10 finches now; they were playing a little too much and now their nests have been removed to prevent a full-sized aviary from forming.
I have two great-nieces, Antigone and Emily - Geez, my brother Larry's a grandpa! As of next month, I'll be the only one in the family who hasn't hit 50. Don's next, on the 6th of May. How'd everybody get to be so old?

ollege
I went through part of an electronics course through the College of San Mateo while I was still at Apple, but was laid off from the company before I could finish the entire course. Years later, in 1993, I took electronics again through OICW in Menlo Park and got a tech certificate, but nobody wants entry level. OICW got me a boring cable assembly job at a sleazy company in San Carlos where 1/3 of the employees were illegal aliens. It was dirty, grungy and sneakily run, and I was almost glad when they laid me off!
Workplace
After leaving Apple in 1983, I applied at over 50 places in the next year, only to find that everyone else was laying off as well. I delivered pizzas, but quit after 3 days when I received a death threat. I have worked in the Post Office 9 times, usually temporary jobs at Christmas & summer. 3 were supposed to be permanent. The first time, in Santa Cruz, I stayed 5 months and couldn't handle driving Hwy. 17 at 2:30 a.m. while all of the wild animals were still out playing and the bars had just closed. The second time, I was a carrier in Cupertino, but got lost too often, so they told me to get lost! The third time, it was too freaky for me to be a window clerk facing customers, so I had to resign. Since most jobs available were facing the public, I was finally able to get a hearing with a very compassionate judge, and receive (first) SSI and later, Social Security. Now, I am mostly selling on ebay, house & pet sitting and writing. My book, "Sublime to Ridiculous: A Collection of Poetry & Probes" is available through the publisher. A second book, "He Opens He's Eyes and He Closes He's eyes" is in process, and will be out soon.
