Thomas's Story

After graduation, I attended Springfield College and the University of Vermont College of Medicine, receiving my M.D. degree on May 20, 1979. I completed additional training at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center and served as a Family Physician at USAF Clinic Hancock, Syracuse, NY from 1980 until 1984. I moved to East Tennessee in 1984 and worked as an Emergency Room Physician until 1989. In 1989, I established a Family Practice office in Kingston, TN--just west of Knoxville. 31 years later, I'm still operating this practice. In November 2014, I was appointed the Roane County Medical Examiner and perform these duties in addition to my regular practice. Typically I investigate over 400 deaths per year. In 1991, I became a Freemason. On March 25, 2010, I was elected the 171st Grand Master of T...Expand for more
ennessee's Freemasons (see photo) and served as such until March 2011--I'm in good company--Andrew Jackson was the 5th TN Grand Master. I married Betty McKissack on January 20, 1996--she has 2 children ages 40 and 36; one child recently made us grand parents. We both enjoy shooting sports and traveling for Masonic activities. I have also served as board member, president and construction supervisor of Roane County Habitat For Humanity, Treasurer and board member of the Roane County Anti Drug Coalition and president of the Knoxville Steinway Society from 2010 until 2015. I have not visited New England since 2011 and don't miss it at all. After 4 years in northern Vermont (medical school), I have had enough winter to last for the rest of my life. I enjoy the south and all it as to offer.
