Workplace
WORK bio? What is work? Remember Maynard G. Krebs, on "The Many Lives of Dobie Gillis?" Every time someone would say "work" he would jump and excitedly scream "WOIK!!!" That's me. If there is a job out there, I've done it...from selling expensive vacuum cleaners, to cleaning out Cow stalls, to editing magazines, to construction, to directing a professional concert band to teaching kids to play, to telemarketing...just think...I might have talked to YOU!

out to sea, almost under the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a sunny, warm August day, and the Reagans and Bushes were aboard. We had just gotten done playing some patriotic music and a little ceremony had taken place commemorating 40 years or "Peace in the Pacific" when ALL HELL broke loose. There I was, about 5th in line on the buffet. I had taken some of the smoked salmon, a few rolls, some of the scallops looked good and fresh, so I got to them...but when I got to the bowl with the jumbo shrimp...IT WAS EMPTY!!!! I had to wait nearly 2 minutes for the mess boy to replace it! THIS WAS TERRIBLE! The other things had been on ice, nicely...and here I was, for nearly two minutes waiting for the shrimp. It was ice cold when it came, and my other food had to be choked down at nearly room temperature. It was then that I realized that I really REALLY had it rough...fortuntately, they turned the ship around and tied it back up at Alameda before too long, and I was back on dry land again. War is HELL!
