Thomas's Story
Raised in Bon Air, schooled at Crestwood, Providence and Midlothian, and graduated from VCU. Moved to Athens, Ga after completing medical school and residency in 1987, opened a private practice of obstetrics and gynecology, and never left! Married, raised five amazing kids, delivered over 9,000 babies and still going strong!
I have fond memories of my Midlothian HS days, the friendships, Mr. ex-Marine Kopko and Mr. Poates, and amazing teachers including Mrs. Cortopassi, Mr. Duggan, Mrs. Gusler (who told me to go into a career of Poultry Science!), Ms. Ballard, Mrs VanCleef, Mrs. Baugher (Drama who told our class in 10th grade..Ann Mudge etc..that the word "theatre" is pronounced "THEE-a-tur" and not "The-ATETUR"...Mr. Bill Gray (and his daily 5 minute poems), Mrs. Barbara Burtchett, Mrs. Karen Witthoefft, Mr. Carl Bagby and the steady Dot James in the library.

I loved my involvement with the "Huguenot House" in the Bon Air community with many Midlothian classmates: Judy Keith, Rodney Short, Bryant Osborn, Bonnie Osborn, Dorothy Rea, Doug Domenech, Ted Adair, John McLellan, Mary Jane Wall, Jayne Glazebrook, Ceci Berkebile, Carolyn Church, Diane Cassada. I remember the week that a dozen of us (Mark Owens et al) shared together in the spring of 1973 in Colonial Williamsburg from Mrs. Burtchett's history class to study colonial architecture, music and history.
I recall the week with Mr. Currie at Cape Kennedy, taking an AMTRACK train to watch the Skylab I liftoff, hearing the roar and feeling the heat, and also a day of fun at the new Disney World.
I remember the amazing tennis team of 1973-4 (I tried out and wasn't good enough for the team!) with Tom Hood and Larry Hudson.
I recall shooting a few hoops with Mitch Cowardin by the track, and helping him wash dishes at the Bullpen Restaurant (Rt 60 and Buford Rd).
