In 2001 I had the chance to travel to Sri Lanka and visit with the author Arthur C. Clarke and also tour the country...on the way we stopped in Bangkok....I was fascinated with the Thai city so decided to go back...starting in 2012 I have visited Thailand every year but one....it started as 3 week vacations and has grown to 5-6 week vacations...I now have a good friend in Bangkok which I travel with when she can get away....but I also enjoy traveling on my own...our visits have taken us to many Thai Islands, Myanmar twice, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore...my current plan...leaving on Jan 30...has me away for 6.5 weeks with more Thai Islands...a house in AoNang for a month...and 8 days in the Philippines...at some point I will be moving over to Thailand....my home away from home...not getting any younger...make hay while the sun shines!...now in my 5th plan for getting back to Thailand....Thawee and I where hoping to also spend 2 weeks in Japan ( early 2021).....wasn't working so new plan added Bali to Japan in late spring/early summer....did not work.....then early fall with Japan and Thailand......not working....then late fall Thailand and Laos....not working...now fall to winter Thailand and Malaysia......I like planning these trips...and there is always tomorrow...fingers crossed!...Well.....have written off 2021 for my Thailand and beyond visit...damn virus!...no worries...new plan has me in Thailand and Islands in Feb. and back in Thailand in May with a 2 week visit to Japan with Thawee...she needs the vacation more then me!...life is good....Well finally got back to Thailand in 2022…not the best time weather-wise but still good to be back…was Aug/Sept for one month…with a side trip to Bali and the Gili Islands…all pretty cool bu...Expand for more
