Thomas's Story
Life
I grew up in W. St. Paul, MN and was the oldest of 4 kids. I am married and have 4 kids of my own. We live in Washington state because that is where the army has me stationed and plan to try to make it our home after I get out of the service.
School
I attended Preschool at Garlough Elementary and then K-6 at Moreland Elementary. After that I went to Frances M. Grass Jr. High and then to Henry Sibley Senior High School. I was on the Track & Field Team for 3 years and did Shot and Disc. I graduated in 89.
College
I started out wanting to get a degree in computer science but ran into some snags with financial aid. Later I went back for a degree in Business but couldn't keep up with school and work. I am currently trying to get into school for communications since I have a background in that from the military. I hope to eventually get a degree.
Workplace
I started working for walgreens while in high school I worked there for 9 years during which time I worked in several stores around the twin cities from time to time but always at the W. St. Paul store. My senior year I joined the Army reserves and got out in 2005....Expand for more
While working at Walgreens I got a Job as a Bartender/Dishwasher at the Fort Snelling Club and worked there for a couple years along with a job at Inver Grove Ford as the night cashier for about a year until I got a better paying job at Signature Flight Support. I then went back into the Army on active duty in 1996 and am still currently in the service.
Military
I joined the Army Reserve my senior year of high school for the college money. I was assigned to B Co. 3rd BN 3rd INF at Fort Snelling and later Arden Hills until the unit was deactivated in 1994 and was reassigend to 322 Maint. Co. for the last year of my contract. I had attended OSUT training from 8 Aug 89 to 9 Nov 89 for 11B Infantryman. In 1996 I re-entered the service on active duty and was assigned to C Co. 4th BN 31st INF at Fort Drum I was there until 2001 and had been ready to deploy to Kuwait in 1998 and deployed to Camp Demi, Bosnia in late 1999. In 2001 I went to Fort Gordon to reclass 31S Satellite Communications and was moved around to various units while there. Then I was assigned to Fort Lewis in the 29th Signal BN in 2003 and deployed to Iraq in 2004.
