Thomas's Story
Life
My graduating class was 1967 but I didn't actually graduate until 1968.
After graduation I worked for the Dept.of Commerce for NOAA, became a D.C. Police Reserve Officer and worked as a regular officer in Glenarden until 1973.
Around the middle of 1970 I left the Dept. of Commerce to play music fulltime for a while. I had been playing bass since 1966 and started with a band called the Camaros out of Southeast. I currently play with bands in the Charlottesville Virginia area.
In 1972 I quit playing music fulltime and went into law enforcement fulltime working at the Glen Arden police department in Maryland until '73 when I moved to Charlottesville, Va. where my fathers roots were.
Since I've been here I have been in the law enforcement field for over 30 years, been married and divorced and continued to be involved in music over the years as a bass player, radio station dj,...Expand for more
and ran my own mobile dj service.
In 2000, I started drawing my retirement from the Virginia Retirement System 26 years of service at the regional jail in Charlottesville, but I continue to work 35 hours a week as I started a new position at the jail as the computer system analyst. I am now a Lieutenant and still train new officers in firearms, defensive tactics and emergency vehicle operations. I also work as a reserve deputy sheriff for Albemarle County which I have done since 1989.
I have 5 grown children and 12 grandchildren.
I look forward to my old friends and associates from Cardozo, Eastern and other schools contacting me and I will be contacting them. Also I still have my 1967 copy of the Cardozo Purple Wave.
When I was in the D.C. area people called me by my first name, Thomas, or my nickname, Tommy. Here I am mostly known as T.C., my first and middle initials.
