Thomas's Story

You probably remember me as a band geek that directed the Marching & Pep band and played some saxophone and soccer and stuff. I'm still a band geek. It just has a little more cache now than it does in high school for some reason. I didn't really have a sense of direction after High school, but I knew that I like entertaining people and making music. I was studying saxophone at Boise State and found out that I had some need to be someplace where I could really hone my talent, but looking back at it, I really just needed someplace where I could get lost in the crowd and find my own unique voice. I was playing in a band called The Rhythm Mob in Boise and the lead singer, Jake Stigers, had moved to New York , so the band lost momentum and I needed some sort of change. I visited my good friend, Jake Stigers, in May '95 and decided to move to New York City because it was just amazing. There was some much of every possible thing that you could imagine. It still blows my mind once in a while. I moved in with Jake's Mom for a few months to save and played gigs and worked at the Power bar factory and saved up about 1200 bucks and flew out with my sax and some clothes and slept on Jake's floor until I found a job and some gigs. I ended up playing with a Band called The Niagaras for a few years, then Milo ...Expand for more
Z, then Gavin Degraw. I've been in magazines and on television which is pretty fun stuff, but my favorite place is on stage playing music for a room full of people. I've played music just about everywhere and have traveled a lot of the world except for Australia and South Africa, but I want to see these places next. My favorite country is Greece. There's this little town called Thessaloniki that I adore. I still live in Manhattan near NYU and I have a few of my own bands and pretty much just play at parties and events. I released my 1st album in 2008. It's called "Allergic To Gravity". The concept of the album title reflects my personal experiences of feeling like I'm meant to be on another planet, but I was born on Earth for some reason, so I'm allergic to Earth's gravity and always experiencing the symptoms of not quite knowing if I'm in the right place at the right time. The songs are just a compilations of music that I have had sitting around inside me my entire life. I'm not sure what they all mean or if they even have any narrative thread or context other than they are mine, but at least I can say I finished this CD and I'm moving forward to the next one! I have no idea if this is the kind of stuff to put here? BUT If you read this far, you are quite tenacious and I thank you! Thomas
