Thomas's Story
I'm enjoying life and looking forward to many more years. I was married for 7 years, had 2 children, divorced, remarried this time for 32 years. Kids are grown, married, 1 granddaughter, 2 grandsons, lots of godchildren & grand godchildren. We love to travel North America, especially the Rockies (top to bottom). In 2005 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, went through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Then in 2016 I was diagnosed with stage 1 oral cancer in my cheek requiring surgery & radiation. As of today, I'm cancer free and a survivor twice! My outlook on life has always been good but after going through the cancer adventures my priorities have certainly shifted. The little things aren't so big anymore - just happy to wake up each morning and enjoy whatever comes by my way. We both volunteered with a local cancer support organization which was a wonderful experience.
May never retire but thoroughly enjoy my career so I don't mind working. I work at The University of North Carolina General Alumni Association and get to be creative & productive in my daily activies. Always a challenge, always fullfilling. Update March 2020 -- retirement planned for July 1, 2020 having completed 34 years of service.

he National Security Group. In addition to spending a year in the Aleutian Islands I was able to spend 3 years in Scotland where my 1st child (son) was born. Traveled throughout Scotland & England and managed to spend some time in Holland & Germany.
After my discharge from the Navy I returned to Ohio where I stayed unti 1981 when I moved to North Carolina where I still happily reside. Tried my hand at several different jobs before landing my current job 31 years ago. At this point I do not plan, nor want to, change jobs. I'll be happy to stay here until I retire.
Of course through all that there are a multitude of smaller stories (some good, some not so good) but the above gives a good overall. I am happy, I am healthy again, I love my wife, my kids, and everyone who is part of my life. Wouldn't want to change anything because everything (good/bad/inbetween) has molded me into who I am today and I like me.
In the Fall 2016 I lost my wife after a long battle with health issues. We had 32 years of married life & 36 years as best friends. I have lived a blessed life and she contributed heavily to that.
Till the next sunrise...
3/26/2020: I hope everyone is staying safe, healthy and Corona Virus Free. So far my family has avoided this virus and I pray it remains that way.
