Thomas's Story
After 18 years in El Paso, I moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech. It didn't take very long at all to discover that my neck wasn't red enough to fit in. It didn't end well.
I moved to Dallas, went to DeVry, went to Dallas County Community College and finally to UT Arlington with a Math/Comp Sci major. Although I had credit hours coming out my ears I never graduated. I kinda just wanted to learn what I wanted to learn.
I worked as a temp for the American Heart Association for a while helping to put together their stroke documentation. Then I worked for Meeting Professionals International, another association this time for meeting/party/wedding/conference/etc. planners.
I took a year off to move back to El Paso to deal with my mom's estate. At the end of that I was trying to decide w...Expand for more
hether to move to Seattle or back to Dallas. Friends in Dallas offered me a place to stay and a temporary job and pretty much made the decision for me.
I met Patrick, my partner, just about the time I moved back and we've been together ever since. I worked for Bank of America in their wholesale mortgage department during the big refinance boom. (Yay! 60 hours a week for months on end ... great paychecks with no time to spend any of it) Patrick worked in telecom and, in 2004, got a job offer in the great wet green northwest.
So, now I'm a homemaker (I'm not all that good at it though I'm always trying) with two furry beasts to take care of ... three with Patrick.
In April ('09) we went to Canada and got married on the 10th anniversary of our first commitment ceremony.
That's about it.
