Thomas's Story

Who is Tom? Well I'm a world traveler, a true blue friend, dolphin rider, rock jumper off'er, burger fiend, restaurant orderer, adventure junkie, a huge dork and funsigator! Not into chasing BS, material possessions, nonsensical living, doing things I hate, or getting stuck in a rut. Basically, salt of the Earth type of guy. I’d like first to apologize for the typos I might have… I must confess I’m a Euro/Pacific Islander (I know… nobody’s perfect). Began as a newspaper boy, carpenter’s helper, loaded trucks at UPS, went to engineering school, studied to fly a plane, waited until I was mature enough to ride a motorcycle, designed electronics that went to Mars, was a fire dancer for a Polynesian Hula Crew, then landed a career at a national laboratory that later lead to becoming a control room particle accelerator operator, got married, and had two beautiful children. Became a scoutmaster for my son’s troop but ended up a mentor for many other sons. Didn't finish there after my son became an Eagle Scout and continued as an Advisor for a Venturing Crew that my daughter was involved with. With that, I helped the youth to sail and live on a sailboat for a week from Miami to the Bahamas and back; went caving, rock climbing, horseback riding, hiking, skiing, mountain biking and road biking (did a century), zip lining, and became a kayaking instructor teaching at the 2013 Jamboree. Spent many hours serving the community but found it most rewarding to take care of previously abused horses at a rescue ranch. Being divorced for 11 years, found a calling in life serving youth, decided to downsize and possibly go tiny. Dreams of living in a small paper town with a bicycle or aboard a sailboat with a first mate, a million dollar view, and no more keys. Travel, surprises, music, dancing, last minute plans, open-mindedness, photography, spontaneity, going out (but also staying in), sharing, simplicity, respect, flip flops (yes, the sandals), down to earth, sense of humor about yourself, awareness. st. I love the ocean, travel, adventure, and the outdoors. I am easy-going but deep; I look for real connections with people. I get along with most and live an active lifestyle. I am easy-going, yet active (intellectually as well as activity wise). I am up for trying new adventures, places, so bring it on...on the flip side, I fit into polite society. I am a trained ballroom dancer and own a tux for black tie affairs. Bond - James - Bond. I am curious, intellectual, and love to explore life! My favorite place to visit is the Caribbean, and although I loved taking cruises I discovered it is more exciting to be on an expedition ship than the fru-fru vacations. Places where I was LIVING LIFE - San Juan, Puerto Rico - Alice Town, Bimini, Bahamas - San Andros, Nichollstown and Berry Islands, Bahamas - Castaway Cay, South Abaco, Bahamas - Hamilton, Bermuda - Labadie, Artibonite, Haiti - Saint Thomas - Philipsburg, Netherlands Antilles - Isla Mujeres - South Beach, Florida - Key West, Florida - Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico - Tulum, Mexico Dinner Hiking and cycling Scary sci-fi movies Sunny days Beaches Mountains Forest Trails Deep Blue Water Rapids I do stunt work. No really, I was a volunteer as an Advisor for a Venturing Crew which is a co-ed branch of the Boy Scouts of America for youth from 14 through 21. So yes, I’ve done everything from caving to spinnaker sailing with them. I mentored them to develop leadership skills and with pursuing high adventure treks. 64% Introvert, 36% Extrovert. Analytical, kinesthetic thinker The spotlight is not my job. A planner but also pro spontaneity A geek and with the adventurous heart of an international spy …. that’s approximately me. On a typical Monday, I am trying to figure out how to make 100 MeV Bromine (or one of those elements?) in a particle accelerator. The most private thing I am willing to admit: I wear a special cologne. It’s called Sex Panther by Odeon. It’s illegal in nine countries…and it’s made with bits of real panther, so you know it’s good.
