The day after our graduation party I moved to Santa cruz, six months later I got draft notice joined Navy instead. Made 2 crusies to vietnam 67-68 & 69-70 In 71 went to flight engineer school, in 78 after getting pilots rating got off active dut y and started working for non scheduled cargo airlines all over the world , Alaska,miami, cairo,bombay, africa,So. America. Then in 86 I happened to be at the right place and joined a start up cargo airline that got the operating certificate for UPS airline. flight engineer flying DC-8 & B747 all over the world until 2009 when the bean counters decided that it made more sense to get rid of old 3 man crew aircraft and old pilots. So I retired from UPS and the Navy. in 2011 my daughter was awarded costody of her grand son and since she lives with us and works my wife and I have become 24/7 great grand parents. raising a 4 year old at 67 is a chalange but it is also a blessing, I never had children and my wifes girls were 4 & 8 when we married and I addopted them. this is kind of a second chance.
