Tiger's Story
Life
What a long strange trip it's been...
In a nut shell:
I went on to become an FSU Seminole, with a criminal justice degree in management.
Police officer for 5 years full time, and have been a LEO for 31+ years now.
I am still certified and active as a reserve police captain, Master Police Officer, and working as a deputy constable in Harris County, TX (Houston).
I learned to fly 26 years ago and became a flight instructor teaching all manner of flying during the day, while working nights at the police department in Plantation.
I quit police work to persue a career in aviation, working for small commuters for several years before geting hired by Continental Airlines.
I have been with Continental for 20+ years and I am currently a captain flying the Boeing 737. I married Elizabeth 16 years ago and having 3 dogs but no kids, we travel and cruise on the big ships quite a bit.
We live on Lake Conroe, TX (50 mi N of Houston) on a nice little estate in the country and on the lake.
We love competing with our dogs in a sport called Flyball and we travel all over the U.S. and Canada to attend tournaments. I have been boating since I was 10, so boating is still one of our favorite activities. We charter a motoryacht every few years and cruise on our own.
I'd love to hear from you and to hear about what you've been up to. E mail me.
ADDENDUM TO MY LIFE BIO - MAY 2005 -
Not to freak anybody out or anything, but it is worth noting and quite interesting, that on September 02, 2004, after exploratory surgery in my neck, I was diagnosed with Stage 4, inoperable head and neck cancer.
Very succinctly, after both chemotherapy and radiation therapy, twice a day for 5 days a week, lasting 7 weeks, I was taken to my very limit of life and I am back again!
...Expand for more
I was grounded by the FAA on that day, but fought hard to come back and I now have my pilot licenses again.
I only mention this, as the remainder of my life changed on that day, and nothing has been, or ever will be the same for me again. Not to mention that I lost 40 pounds and I am back at my FLHS senior prom weight!!!!
ADDENDUM TO THE ADDENDUM: - JUNE 2006
I continue to have routine MRI, PET, and Camera exams to make sure nothing returns, but the outlook is good for the future.
Take my advice, enjoy life NOW, be kind to EVERYONE.
You will die someday, and you know not when. After you die, most of the trivial stuff won't matter any more, so let it go NOW.
And, "Love the one you're with", as David Crosby would say...
JAN 2007 ADDENDUM:
Last month I underwent back surgery to fix a ruptured disc and after I recover from that, I will be as GOOD AS NEW! I will be under warranty for another 100,000 miles! (not much for an airline pilot...) I still don't understand what God has in mind for me, but I am open to it! I hope that your life is full and LESS exciting, in a good way, than mine has been so far.
How did we get so old so FAST? I am forced by the FAA to retire in 8 years, and I'm not sure if I'll want to or not...
How about you?
JUNE 2007 Addendum
Well, if you are or you know a cancer survivor, then you know that for the rest of the survivor's of family's laves, every ache or pain or unexplained physical ailement creates concern and mental red flags go up. This just happened with me when for the very first time since September 02, 2004 when I was diagnosed with cancer, I got sick! A sinus cold of all things. I had the camera exam yesterday and I am still cancer free! It willbe 3 years on 02 SEP 07.
Life is great, enjoy it!
