Worked on North American, Asian, & European vehicles.
In the good old days we talked about cubic inches and carbs. Today it's cup holders, speakers & emissions. Tomorrow it will be watts and no driver! - Yikes!
Started dating my wife to be in '62 & married 9/1966 and have 2 daughters.
Residing in the wonderful Plymouth, MI area for 57 years
(4 Plymouth area residences over the years - same land line phone number except for area code)
Enjoy traveling and the 4 methods used were road, rail, water, and air. Like everyone, first trips were in the family car from home. Checked the map and covered 23 states east of the Mississippi River, 8 states west of the Mississippi and 1 Canadian Province. FYI - Drive south from Detroit to enter Canada.
Even had a few rail trips. Four trips between cities and 6 scenic trips in the US. Five trips (Europe & South America) between cities and 1 scenic trip (Canada) outside the US.
Using cars, trains, boats, ships, and planes got us to many places. Six continents / 32 countries / 4 territories (countries visited updated & territories added to reflect islands previously visited in the South Pacific & Caribbean) / 115 airports (includes a few African grass fields) / 100+ days cruising at sea & on rivers / 48 states (US) / 29 National Parks (US) / 7 provinces (CAN) / 5 National Parks (CAN) ) and spending time "Up North" (MI slang for n...Expand for more
orthern MI).
Cruised 26 days (Nov & Dec '22) through the Caribbean and down the amazing Amazon to Manaus, Brazil. Just completed a wonderful 2 week stay in northern Europe which included a cruise from Iceland to Norway and The Netherlands. Reykjavik and Iceland are both bright gems in the North Atlantic. The towns in the fjords are postcard picture perfect. And to top it off, experienced 10 straight days of daylight – The land of the midnight daylight. Was also able to fly around the globe in the ‘90’s traveling from MI to Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo to Honolulu to LA and back to MI. Have crossed the Equator on foot, by car, ship, and plane.
Have traveled (days) the Pacific, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic, Bay of Fundy, Norwegian Sea, North Sea, Yangtze, Danube, Rhine, St. Lawrence, & Amazon rivers. Have toured (hours) the Mississippi (middle & lower), Detroit, Potomac, Hudson, East (NYC), Savannah, Platte (MI), Crystal (MI), Manistee (MI), Brisbane (AUS) & Saguenay (CAN) rivers.
Very fortunate that I have not missed a flight or ship or had a cancelled flight or lost luggage. Have had some wonderful meals and only ill once from eating “suspect” food. Experienced some wonderful sights both in the US and abroad. Just recently experienced a gem of nature (and man) just outside St. Louis, MO called Innsbrook. Very fortunate indeed! - PS: Had the "Privilege" of being on the final cruise ship in NOV for the 2025 New England Cruise Tour Season ( US & CAN ). Had a great lunch at the "Caves" restaurant in St. Martins New Brunswick. When we walked out the door, they locked it and closed for the winter. Great seafood chowder!
