Tim's Story

Life Well, four years, four months and three weeks I finished my "tour" in Iraq. Quick stop in the States and now I am in Kosovo in the Balkans. Would have liked to get a job in the States, but because of the economy, etc... it was not possible. However, I am very pleased with the change in environment and work place. Iraq is what it is and the U.S., despite what the government says, will not change. 'It is what it is' and has been like it is for centuries. The marriage that was bad when I first came here has finally ended thank Buddha... I have met a wonderful Thai woman who gives me the happiness I have sought for many years. I have a few friends in the States who have stood by me and supported me which I am very greatful for, not to mention my relatives who have also lent an ear and supported me as well. 15 Years USMC and Reserves combined. Jumped around in careers, but spent quite a few in the medical field as EMT, Forensic Technician, Pathology Assistant. Now at age 48(?!) I changed careers (again) and I'm , but I work with force protection in the IZ to keep terrorists from gaining inside access. I have my two children, Papi and Luc, who I love and miss dearly. e with them right now. Someday I hope that changes... I actually have four heros in my life. My new wife Sai, my two children Papi and Luc. They have sacrificed for me to help me through the time away from them. They have been unselfish with their time, love and devotion. When I have 'fallen',they have picked me up and stood by me. This conflict in Iraq has taken a toll on many, however these loved ones have been my inspiration to go forward and be strong. It's been a long three plus years here in Iraq, and I see no change. Just false news stories about the conditions and the struggle of the Iraqi people just to survive everyday with a corrupt government leading them. The security they have is "fragile" and can regress at any time. We need to make sure that the ones who helped us here are safe before we prematurely pull out. America will just have more blood on its hands by abandoning our friends here if we don't plan well. STOP being reactive and learn to be proactive. So, with the strength and sacrifices of my family in my absence, I hope I have touched some Iraqi's in a positive way and have been able to make their lives safer. All of our family members are to thank for standing by their loved ones.
