Timothy's Story
Graduated from Davidson College in 1969, Taught English at Garinger High School in Charlotte 1969-70. Entered active duty in U.S. Army Infantry 1970., assigned as training officer at Ft. Jackson, SC 1970-71. Graduated Jungle Warfare School in Panama and was assigned command of an infantry platoon in South Vietnam until transition from active duty to inactive reserve duty in early 1972. Married a ballerina from NY Metropolitan Opera in 1971; operated ballet schools in CA and WA until starting work at Pinkerton's Inc. in San Francisco 1978-84. as payroll clerk and then asst. personnel mgr. Hired by AT&T 1984 for network engineering division, corporate communications in Pleasanton CA; transferred to Atlanta in 1990, retired in 2004. l Rhoda in Atlanta 2002. Hired by Geisinger Health System in Wilkes-Barre PA as corporate communications specialist in 2005, retired in 2016.; moved to Asheville NC. My love of the theater began with roles in two plays at Curry, followed by seven productions at Davidson, including the college's first-ever musical. After a 31-year hiatus, I resumed acting with 10 roles in six productions of community theater in the Atlanta area 2000-2004, My time with AT&T included the founding of an employee "spirit & attitude" choir that performed at retirement centers and nursing homes. Currently serving as a board member of Asheville's Mountain Area Radio Reading Service for the blind and print impaired in western NC, helping the non-profit organization transition from radio broadcasting to web streaming and podcast recordings of local and regional publications .
