Tim's Story

Tim passed away on 28 November 2023 after 50 happy years of marriage to me (Diane.) Tim lived a rich and full life despite living with the limitations of MS since 1987. He fondly recalled his days at Del Norte and the many friendships that survived throughout the decades. DHS Class of 65 sent a beautiful floral tribute. His memorial service can be viewed on the live stream option. Google search Bowra and O'Dea Hilton and enter his name. If you wish to keep in touch, you can contact me via Tim's Facebook page. His classmate subscription will be active for some months. Kind regards to all of you. January 15, 2008 After graduating from Del Norte I attended Santa Rosa JC for two years playing one year of football, getting some decent grades as opposed to four years of high school and eight years of grad school. I transferred to San Francisco State and remained for five years while I finished my BA with a double major: history and political science. I completed a teaching credential, finished my Masters in Medieval history and spent a fabulous year in Florence, Italy on an overseas study program. I met my fabulous lifetime com...Expand for more
panion there and after another year back in the States, we finalized our commitment. Teaching jobs were virtually nonexistent for history teachers that did not coach football so I accepted a position in Australia and we have remained for 34 years. I taught high school social studies to Lower School kids and Ancient History to Upper School kids plus a little lecturing at the University of Western Australia. We are both retired now and enjoying ourselves immensely; life is better than I, or anybody, deserves. Addition: November 29, 2012 If any person reading this might be interested, I have started a food blog called Timstucker. Actually, it is a food diary of the meals that Diane and I have each day with my own meandering comments about food: food history, recipes, wine, cocktails, food raw materials, restaurant meals, dietary factors or just odd ramblings about the wonderful world of that which keeps us alive. It might be of interest as the eating habits of two Californians, one of which grew up in Del Norte and whose memories, even after all these years, still return to those formative years of the Fifties and Sixties.
