Tim's Story
Life
Retired - January 1, 2012 and Loving it!!! - Have place in Leesburg, FL as well as Richmond, KY, try to spend a lot of time in Florida on the lake.
I have had a great life thus far. I am doing what I want to do. Before retiring I feel I was in a position that could help young people. Had the privilege of coaching a young lady in the 1988 Seoul, Korea Olympic Games and also see one of my former athletes compete on the USA's two-man and four-man bobsled team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Through this I was able to pay back people who were instrumental in my growth and development (June Glover, Ed Starling and George Ritchie). Without these three people I am not sure where I would be now. All I can say is THANK YOU!!! I am trying to make a difference in other young people's life as these three did in mine. If I can help one I feel I have earned my worth in this world.
My idea of relaxing is sitting on the beach in Nassau, Bahamas listening to the waves roll in.
School
June Glover Ed Starling and George Ritchie were the teacher's that inspired me the most. I would not change anything in my life.

vel. I coached track and field at Eastern Kentucky University from 1982 - 2012. I have had the privilege of coaching many NCAA Division I All-Americans. I enjoyed recruiting children of the athletes that ran for me in the early 1980's. I would say my high point was coaching an athlete at the 1988 Seoul, Korea Olympic Games. The young lady won the United States Olympic Track and Field Trials 100 meter hurdles in a trials record of 12.83 making her the number one U.S. hurdler in the country. Traveling to Los Angeles (UCLA), Japan (Chiba) and Korea (Seoul) was an experience of a lifetime. Some of my downs in coaching were the injuries that occurred to students I had the opportunity to work with. Making a difference in young people's lives is one of the greatest rewards one can receive. I have been very blessed in my journey through life thus far. I hope to continue to help young people. One of the greatest feelings is to hear from former student-athletes and the experience they had at Eastern Kentucky University and the fact that I had something to do with their success in life. I feel I have paid back, to some extent, June Glover, Ed Starling and George Ritchie for their love, trust and belief in me. They will have many rewards from God - I am sure.
