My Job: After elevin years working in the field of HIV/AIDS, I returned to school full-time, completing a bachelor at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, and master degree at the UofM-Duluth in Social Worki. I am a medical social worker for a local hospice.
From the summer of 2005 to 10/07, I served as the coordinator for the Greater Duluth End-of-Life Coalition, a group of hospice, clergy, estate-planning professionals and others who help educate the public regarding end-of-life issues. This is a volunteer position. I am also a hospice volunteer and a grief support co-facilitator.
Former Coordinator of Tapestry, a praise band, First United Methodist Church, Duluth, MN. I resign effective 8/30/08
In my former HIV work, I case managed persons living with HIV/AIDS, educated the community regarding HIV/AIDS in bars, parks, streets... working with people living with high-risks; and I provided HIV testing and counseling in a six-county area of Northern Wisconsin. Yes, it was challenging, rewarding and life-changing.

e gave me a book during my senior year which I did not read until several years later. Then I realized why she gave it to me... and it changed my life. I wish I could have told her in person what that meant to me, but she took her journey to another place. I think she knows.
Bachelor of Social Work: Univ. of WI, Supeior 06
Master of Soicla Work; Univ. of MN, Duluth 07
Workplace
2007: I began as a Medical Social Worker in May, 2007 for St. Mary's Hospice & Palliative Care, Duluth, MN. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker, LISW.
2004:Working in the field of HIV/AIDS allowed me the opportunity to 'give back' to the community I am a part of (Gay/lesbian). HIV is not about weather or not you happen to be gay or do drugs... it is about being responsible for your actions. I help teach young people that being gay is fine.... being straight is fine... being whoever you are and doing whatever you want to do is fine, as long as you take responsibility for your actions. I have lost hundreds of clients to this disease, and I have worked with too many infected young people. I have witnessed too many children and mothers buried. The only thing that can make a difference... starts with you. That is why I loved my job. I made a difference!
