Tim's Story
Where have I been and what have I done?
Went to Purdue University to major in Electrical Engineering. I didn't do well, almost went craze trying, so I changed my major to Psychology. Loved that and really raised my GPA. Got married and had a son before I graduated, which really screwed things up for going to Grad School. Instead I enlisted in the Army. Finally got out of Indiana.
Went to Basic Training in Fort Jackson, to language school in Monterey California, had another handsome son, went to MI school in San Angelo, Tx, and went through an ugly divorce that I never wanted. Army sent me to Augsburg Germany, ex-wife and sons stayed in Indiana. Got out of the Army after 2 years in Augsburg, but stayed in German for another 3 years for extended divorce recovery.
Moved back to Indiana to try to reconnect with my sons. Worked for several different companies, none that satisfied, and decided it was time to start looking for another wife. time I used my education), and decided I really wanted to be a pastor in the Lutheran Chruch. Joined the National Guard during this time.
Went to Seminary in Fort Wayne for two years, and worked as a Vicar (intern pastor) in Plymouth, IN for a year. Went to Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning before going back to finish Seminary, went to Newport News, VA for Transporation school and got deployed to Iraq for a year. Finally got back to Sem for my last year and was called to serve two congregations in the great plains of North Dakota.
It snows too much, has lots of bugs, but beautiful weather in the Summer. I love being a pastor, although it is really hard work at times. My sons live in Kokomo, IN, where one is learning to be an RN, the other is married and and is now a father, and is in the Army Reserves. He and his wife are going to college part time studying graphic arts. Daughter is in the 6th grade and is a dancer. My second wife is still with me (God bless her) and is a homemaker, personal accountant, my best sermon critic, and my best friend.
