Tim's Story

Life I currently attend George Mason University and major in Physical Education. My musical taste has changed. I used to be a big Seven Mary Three fan. My new all-time favorite band is Lynyrd Skynyrd. They wrote "Sweet Home Alabama," "Free Bird," and many more. My GPA has risen dramatically because I actually work for it. My GPA, of 3.3, is higher than the 2.0 I graduated HS with. I figure, this is your future, so you might want to work for it. I currently still referee both soccer and basketball. I have become a High School Basketball Official as well. I'm on the running man; TIce5man99 I would like to congratulate the new mothers in the class. I know your children will turn out like you. Very caring, sweet, and friendly. Good Luck to all my fellow alumni, in college, in parenthood (if it happens), and in life in general. Remember to always do your best. If you don't get your desired outcome, be contempt in your heart that you did it to your best ability. "Stick to your guns if you believe in something no matter what 'Cause its better to be hated for who you are then be loved for who you're not" - Johnny and Donnie Van Zant - "Van Zant" School Well, once again we meet...Albeit it just words and a screen. I had myself a couple of crush's back in high school, some who realized it, some who did not. I'm not sure any teacher really inspired me, although Mr. Greek (9th Grade English), Coach O and Mr. Fish (11th & 12th Grade P.E.), Mrs. Woods (11th Grade English), Mr. Graham (Guitar Ensemble), Mrs. McCarthy (7th Grade Guitar), were just some of the few I did like. High School was both great times and bad times for me. But then growing up as a teenager, you're bound to have times like that. My fondest memories are the Guitar Ensemble trips to Boston, New York, Connecticut, and Delaware. I also loved bowling every Friday with "Advanced P.E." That was real fun. We got to see Benjamin Verdery (world-renowned guitarist), watch Les Miserables, and upon leaving Les Mis, we saw the Dave Matthews Band right across the street. Going into the store where Jimi Hendrix bought his first guitar and was a frequent customer of. I loved the experience of being one of the 2 only high schools invited to the "Guitar Extravaganza" at Yale. I loved bowling. Back then, when I was significantly better than I am today ;), the freedom of getting away from the school was invigorating. High School was both great times and bad times for me. ork, Connecticut, and Delaware. I also loved bowling every Friday with "Advanced P.E." That was real fun. I had never thought when we went to the weight room in P.E. that I would like doing that. And at that time, I was cool with it, but now, I do it so frequently, its a part of my life. I used to remember back in the 7th grade, me walking through the halls with my bottle cap glasses that I swear were 5" thick. About the time late 9th/early 10th grade came around, I ditched the glasses for contacts, and have wore contacts ever since. I remember always coming to school in a Cleveland Browns t-shirt or some other t-shirt that at the time I thought was cool, but now look back and realize was too big for me...Oops! ;) I remember the days of baggy pants, chains going from pocket to wallet (in general...i never wore them), remember slap braclets (until they were disallowed) back in 7th and 8th grade. I remember "shop" class were we got to build salt and pepper shakers, cars, napkin College After High School, I went to NOVA (Northern Virginia Community College) and got my Associates in Applied Science in the field of Microcomputing in Spring 2002. Needless to say, I am no longer associated with the computer field anymore. I just found no interest in sitting around all day in front of a computer. I am now at George Mason University very close to completing my Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a minor in Health, Fitness, and Recreation Resources. That is something I have an interest in, because I love being active and playing sports and now, working with kids. Seeing them smile when you teach them something new, when they accomplish something they didn't think they could, are just improving their skills, or just having fun makes me smile. I can't help it, it's contagious :) Workplace I started refereeing soccer at 15 and have continued to do so until this day. I am at a much higher level and plan to make "State Referee" this year. I also officiate High School Basketball, doing my first LB game this past year. I have refereed H.S. Basketball now for 6 years. (Basketball overall for 8). I also work for the Park Authority, and have ever since summer 1999. I worked as a Camp Counselor 1999-2003. I became a Camp Coordinator in 2004, and plan to do so again this summer. I will continue to referee because I enjoy it. Its great physical activity and I am able to officiate sports I like doing...(really can't watch soccer on TV, but LOVE refereeing it)...(and for those interested, yes, I have in fact referee'd Freddy Adu - had refereed 4 of his games when he played with Potomac).
