Timothy's Story

Life I have never climbed Mt. Everest; nor have I swum to the bottom of Mariana Trench, but these never were goals of mine. Some aspects of life remain unaccomplished in my biography, but 4000 characters doesn’t leave me enough space to dwell on these. The following could hardly be called successes by the standards of stardom, but so what? After graduating from Ruskin, I went to Northwestern University in Evanston, IL & received a BA in 1981. My double major was in History & Anthropology. My main area of study was Archaeology & Paleoanthropology. The study of human origins fascinates me to this day. For information about the new discoveries being made today by mitochondrial and Y-chromosome DNA analysis, regarding ancient migrations and the emergence of human diversity, I suggest that you visit: ftdna.com or oxfordancestors.com. I just wish this information had been around when I was in college. In the early 1970s, I developed an interest in genealogy. I have studied the history of my family ever since & have written several books on different branches of my family. I became a member of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) in 1982. In 1995, I became the Registrar & Membership Secretary of the Kansas Society SAR & have held this office since then. For more info, go to: sar.org. the Classmates profile survey. I joined the Libertarian Party in 1980. I have run for State Representative several times from right here in the Hickman Mills/ Ruskin area. I knew that I wouldn’t win, but that wasn’t why I was running. For more info, go to: lp.org When it comes to music, my CD collection comprises a lot of Country, a bit of ‘60s & ‘70s rock, some folk, classical, & Celtic. My favorite singer is Connie Dover. I got my first computer in 1989. I have had to upgrade it many times & added a lot of peripheral devices. Whenever I decide that I have created the dream machine, I turn around & discover that it is almost obsolete:). I usually spend my vacations traveling. My travels frequently lead me to a state archive or county courthouse, where I do more genealogical research. I usually try to visit my brothers, six nephews & one niece, both here in Kansas City and in Glen Ellyn, IL or Wilmington, NC. In 1984, I began working at UMB in downtown Kansas City. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been there 19 years, working on the night shift. I am now an analyst in the Item Processing department. I would have never guessed, while in high school or college, that I would like working nights, but it has more advantages than most day workers can imagine: no rush hour traffic; no parking hassles; plus I can do whatever I want during the time when the rest of the world is opened for business.
