Tina's Story
Life
After high school, I attended NMSU and UNM. I didn't like UNM so I came back to Alamo where I met Paul Baker from La Luz, NM at NMSU on the Hill. We married in May 1979. We both became nurses - he is a Nurse Anesthetist and I was a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. He still practices in Paducah, KY and loves it. I, on the other hand, left health care in 1996. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and we both felt it best that I leave the hectic pace of being a professor, administrator and nurse practitioner. I miss it and my patients, but have not looked back. We have two kids, Ashley, age 27 and Landon, age 19. Both are AWESOME. You can see their...Expand for more
picture in my pics. I have two little white Maltese dogs named Frederick and Sidney. They are really cute. Paul and I are looking forward to being just the two of us again with both of the kids in college.
School
I obtained (or rather collected) seven college degrees, and don't use a single one of them! I went all the way to a doctorate. I think, like everyone, that Mr. Hammond inspired me the most to love science. That is where I concentrated my studies the most, becoming a nurse. I eventually went on to specialize in geriatrics and ethics. I liked school a lot and love teaching even more. I taught at Murray State University in Murray KY for a while.
