Tina's Story

After nearly killing myself in a car accident at 20 and having to learn to walk all over again I got married and stayed that way for 14 years. No kids of my own, but have a stepdaughter who is 37 with a son of her own (my (ex) husband was 16 years older than I). My (ex) hubbs and I ran a sporting goods shop in Salem (he's still in biz there) where I put in a lot of ungodly hours (and occasionally bumped into some of you!) until I went back to school and got a handful of tech certs. I divorced Noel 7 years ago. Not long afterwards I got a great job as a technical instructor which I loved, and dated a man who was a myth in his own mind from Alabama for some time (which I didn't love so much) before hooking up with my fiancé, Andy. Andy and I have been together 5 years now and in October of 08 moved to Florida on a whim. The relo was tough at first- but things are going well. I am still in the technology field as Director of Educational Services at Byte Shop Computers' newest location, where I develop and deliver technical training. I've been really blessed since surviving the Crash of 89 and am looking forward to marrying Andy, whom I absolutely adore. We haven't set a date (he's pushing for November) since I've already been there, done that, lost the T-shi...Expand for more
rt in the divorce and so am content with a long engagement- but I'll probably give in soon. I still consider myself a writer, though my list of published credits is small as I've always focused more on creating and less on submitting things. Meh. Was never really interested in fame anyway. Fortune? That'd be nice though, LOL. So far I love the Sunshine State, the sunny weather, the beautiful beaches and the folks we've met so far, who are (mostly) great. Every so often though I remember those days at Higgins, skipping down at the rocks, being chased through the woods by truant officers, setting off the fire alarms and getting caught by Mr. Lawless (whom I later bumped into at the AOH several times when I was there with my dart team). I sometimes miss those days that I realize now were relatively carefree even though they didn't feel that way then! I remember smoking in the courtyard, rolling colored smoke bombs into the auditorium, ducking out the back doors in C house and cutting through the woods to go to the mall instead of English class. I moved away before high school, so I missed a lot of high school memories with all the kids I grew up with, but I lived back in Peabody on and off for many years later on and was always glad to bump into an old friend.
