Tina's Story
I graduated from Truman State University in 2001 with a degree in Psychology and immediately started my M.A. in Special Education. I taught special ed at an elementary school in North Kansas City for 2 years before making a move to Prague, Czech Republic. My friend Katie Mondi decided she wanted to go to get certified to teach English as a foreign language and I decided to jump on the band wagon. We took a month long course and met some wonderful people and then I decided to travel instead of get work. Got to see much of Europe and a little bit of Africa. y teaching at my current position at Carpentersville Middle School. I also got my Type 75 certificate to be an administrator last summer so I will probably pursue that later on. CMS is as inner city as you can get for the suburbs. I am up-to-date on most gang lingo if you ever need to know any. It has been quite a change but most days I love it. It is really hard to imagine what kind of life the kids live day to day but they are brutally honest (which is one of my favorite things about them). There is never a dull moment that is for sure!! :-) I am not sure what is next in my life but am open to almost anything. Hope everyone is doing well!!!
