Tina's Story

Life Hey!!!WOW Alot has happened since the old VD days (1983..... I'm old!!!) I don't think there is enough writing space to tell you about the past 25 yrs, but I will summarize it for you... After graduation in 1983,I started working for an OB-GYN practice in August, now it is part of Carolinas Healthcare System.I worked in the fileroom, patient registration, pt accounts, surgery scheduling, etc. I also attended CPCC for a few medical classes, went to EMT school. I got married to Todd in 1988. We met in EMT class and absolutley have the two best kids in the world. Brooke is 18 & off the UNCC in the fall of 2008 & Dillon is almost 15 & driving with his permit. I know I am partial but they really are the best kids in the world. Neither are athletic at all. I really wanted one of them play some sport as much as I love sports, but oh well. Brooke got the looks & the brains. She did really well in high school & is attending the Belk College of Business at UNCC. Dillon is my typical teenage boy. Eats a lot, drives fast & has a new girlfriend every month.ha ha They are really funny & very close. They have alot of their own "inside jokes" I know they are both going to have some seperation anxiety in a few weeks when Brooke leaves. I am going to be totally lost without her home. I have a Cairn Terrier Zoe who is 7 & we like to say "extra fluffy" not overweight. and in March 2008 we rescued a "special" breed dog from shelter. We think is is about 7 yrs old & his name is T.J. He is part Pomeranian/Terrier/? & weighs 7 lbs. After my divorce in 1998 while working for an OB-GYN dr, my girlfriends used to say "Tina, your not going to meet anyone HERE.,you are going to have to go out" I hardly ever did because one, I worked a flex schedule where I could work any hours I wanted to as long as I got in 40 hrs per week. So I would take the kids to school, work till they got out, pick them up & spend the rest of the day with them. I would make up my hours when they visited their dad e/o weekend & work long, crazy hours, but it worked for me at the time.I honestly did not have a lot of time to date but one day Chip walked into my office (OB-GYN) as my property manger for the building. We dated 7 months, got engaged & maried a year later(May 2007)I always say "ahh haaaa" to the girls who said I would have to go elsewhere to find my m...Expand for more
ate, he literally "walked into me" Chip & I attend Lake Forest Church in Huntersville & LOVE IT. We visited right before we got engaged & loved it, did our pre-marital counseling there & have found our place. Chip serves on the propertry management committee since that is what he does for a living & I serve as the newborn nursery teacher & I love that. We made sure from the start that we planned our marriage not our wedding & have made sure God was first in our lives. My Mom still lives in the same house as when I was in school..Home Sweet Home... She remarried a few years after I graduated to a baptist minister. They are very happy together. I really would love to have a school reunion to catch up and see everybody, but for right now, this will have to do... School Well, anyone who remembers me knows that my "true love" was Kevin Sutton. We dated all the way thru my high school years. We broke up after I graduated and he still had one more year left. We had some really great times and I would not change one thing. Those were some really great years!!!! My biggest "crush" before Kevin was the PE/Science teacher Coach Harrison, I think I was in the 7th or 8th grade.I was very pleasantly suprised when I reported to Drivers Ed at West Mecklenburg High School & low & behold, who was my drivers ed teacher...Coach Harrison!! Only in America LOL!!! I think my senior Prom and Graduation were the 2 "big" events that stand out, and the year I was Homecoming Queen. There were so many great memories there....Basketball, Volleyball, Cheerleading,Dances,Haunted Houses,Pep Rallys, Proms, the list goes on & on. I really enjoyed going to school there. The people made it wonderful. Workplace I worked for OB-GYN doctors from 1983-1999. I started out working in the fileroom, cashier, appointment secretary, surgery scheduling, and then worked my way to manager. I did work for University Hospital for 1 year(99-00) then for Internal Medicine from 00-01, but went back to OB-GYN. After I got divorced I gave up my manager position due to demands of my time & overtime and conflict with my kids schedules. I don't regret it at all. But now that I am remarried I went back to management in a Pediatric practice in Huntersville, South Lake Pediatrics. I LOVE IT!!. Everyone knows how much I have always loved kids, so it fits me to a T.
