Tj's Story

Since those early days, life has taken me through a wide range of chapters, some planned and some completely unexpected. After graduating, I served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves, an experience that gave me structure, perspective, and a lasting respect for teamwork and responsibility. I went on to build a long career in information technology, working in consulting and IT leadership roles before eventually transitioning into education. My academic path included undergraduate work in math and science, earning a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching from Marian University. I spent several years in the classroom, and teaching became one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. It reshaped how I think about learning, patience, and community, and it continues to influence my work today. While living in New England, alongside my career in technology, motorsports became a major part of my life. During that time, I raced motorcycles and Formula 500 open-wheel cars, experiences that combined engineering, discipline, and competition at a high level. Today, I continue to race and drive performance cars, including a vintage Porsche 914 and a modern Porsche 911. In parallel with my professional work, I became deeply involved in endurance sports and event management, eventually founding and running nonprofit and small business ventures focused on a...Expand for more
thletic events, race timing, and community fundraising. Philanthropy was and remains a very important part of my life, and much of my work has centered on giving back through sport, service, and mentorship. In 2017, I experienced a traumatic brain injury that forced an abrupt reset. Recovery was long and challenging, but it also redirected my focus in positive ways. I returned to technology with a renewed sense of purpose, concentrating on open-source software development, particularly race-timing systems designed to be affordable and accessible. I am currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Computer Science at Harvard University. Outside of work and study, I remain involved in motorsports, creative projects, and writing. Much of my writing reflects on growing up, learning the hard way, and finding meaning through reinvention. I value curiosity, persistence, and people who show up when it matters. I have also written submissions for peer-reviewed journals in the areas of physics and higher education. On the personal side, I am the proud father of two daughters and one son, and a very proud grandfather to one grandson. I currently live in Arcadia, Indiana, with my wife, Jennifer, and three rambunctious Jack Russell Terriers. If you remember me from back then, I hope life has treated you well in its own unpredictable way. Please reach out to me to let me know how you have been!

It was an incredible day today!
Barometer is sitting at about 28.3 inches of Mercury. What that means, is we're going to have a very low pressure system pass through in the next 6-12 hours. Just for comparison, before we went to dinner, the barometer show

Looks like I have about enough for a big batch of my Sunday sauce to can for later. It always tastes better with Roma tomatoes, especially home grown ones.
