Toby's Story
Life
Married with four beautiful kids: Toby, II; Tiffani; Trey; and Taylor.
College
I spent two weeks at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, before realizing I was a hard-core civilian. While I love my country, I think I can serve her best in the private sector. UNC-CH was the only college I had applied to before going in, so that's where I started in '83. Once I got there, I realized they didn't have undergrad computer science at the time. e, I decided to transfer. ECU and UNC-W were the only two schools I could find that would take sophomore transfers. I chose ECU because of their reputation in computer science. It was a great program. Now, I don't really do any programming, which is what I was taught. I actually teach things like computer hardware and networking, both from the Microsoft and Cisco perspectives. I've attained multiple professional certifications that look better to most employers than my degree. I'm happy with where my professional life has taken me. I continue to grow.
