Todd's Story
When I was growing up the person listed in the Guinness World book of records for the Most traveled person in the world was from Elmhurst, Illinois. His name was J. Hart Rosdail (1914-1977). Of all the countries in the world at that time, he visited all but two. (North Korea and French Antarctica Territories) He went to 215 countries and territories. I thought that was the coolest thing to try to do. And said a lot that he chose Elmhurst as his home.
In my job as Chief Photographer for CNN working from London I have done my best to travel as much of the world as possible. I am nowhere near the most travelled person but I have been to more than 80 countries. I am trying to top 100 but it keeps getting harder particularly as I spend more time at home these days with my wife Anna and two sons Conor and D...Expand for more

I have witnessed history- The first Gulf War, The Breakup of Soviet Union, The funeral of Princess Diana, The Bosnian War, The election of Nelson Mandela, The Good Friday agreement in Northern Ireland, East Timor conflict, Russian/Chechen War, Iran Presidential elections, numerous US Presidential trips, and lastly for me as a Beatle Fan, Paul McCartney's concert in Red Square. All of it has been fascinating to watch and I look forward to much more.
But I still think back on my days at York High school. Working on school plays, singing in the choir, working in the bookstore, climbing through the tunnels under the school, opening my locker to find hundreds of red rubber balls falling out of it (Yes- that is where all those balls around the school came from). It was a blast- and I miss those days.
