Tom Donnelly:  

After graduating from CHS attended SPJC, then transferred and graduated from Memphis State University with a Marketing/Advertising degree (VP of Lambda Chi Alpha, Student Government Assoc, Business Manager of Campus Newspaper). Served in Memphis Nat. Guard during Martin Luther King riots. Married in 1968 to Memphis St. sweetheart, Diane Seifert. Began ad career in the Management Training program at one of the largest ad agencies in the US...Foote, Cone & Belding Advertising, in Los Angeles. Spent two years there working on Lorrilard Tobacco, Shakey's Pizza Parlors, Adolph's Meat Tenderizer, Sunkist, Purex, and other national brand accounts. Returned to Memphis as Manager. of Radio Media Div of Wm B Tanner Co (the world's largest media barter company) and also served as Account Supervisor for the STP and Beneficial Finance accounts. In 1974 left Memphis to become Sales Mgr of WFBQ/WNDE, in Indianapolis for 2 yrs. Then back to Memphis as Gen Mgr of RKO's WHBQ for 4 years (Rick Dees was our morning man). Got to know and met lots of celebs like Memphis Mafia, Jessie Jackson, Howard Cossell, Gallagher, Gordon Jump, Geo. Peppard, Jerry Reed, John Schneider, Rich Little, Ray Price, Jerry Lawler, Danny Thomas, Leeza Gibbons, Charlie Pride, Liberace, The Oak Ridge Boys, Sybil Shepard, etc...interesting times. . In 1980 became Gen Mgr of KPLX/KLIF, Dallas. In 1982 left broadcasting and started ad agency. in Dallas, WEST END MEDIA GROUP. Eventually reaching annual billings of $21 mill. for 43 clients including SIX FLAGS parks, SILVER SPRINGS, Cypress Gardens, Paramount, Universal Studios, TWA, Braniff, Rodeway Inns, Park Inns International, Convention/Visitors Bureaus, airlines, lawyers, resorts. Also got into the radio syndication business. Own and syndicate radio's most successful short-form comedy feature HINEY WINE which has been syndicated on 728 radio stations in the US and Canada.
