Life After high school I enlisted in the Army and served as a military policeman stationed in Europe. After about a year of writing traffic tickets and investigating traffic accidents I lucked out and was selected for duty in Brussels, Belgium. Brussels was Great! Duty for the most part was very light and provided the opportunity to travel on my days off. I had the chance to travel through out most of Western Europe. After my Army time was up, I returned home to Seattle to take advantage of the GI Bill - I was having a great time being a college student when in my second year I met a young lady (Trisha) who would eventually become my wife. While the GI Bill would pay for my tuition and books I still had to pay my living expenses. I worked various part-time jobs while keeping my position on the Dean's list. Jobs included operating a printing press, lumber-jack, house painting and a couple accounting clerk positions. I picked up a temporary summer position with a brokerage firm between my sophomore and junior year that would turn into a 10 year engagement. My plans to finish college would be put on hold for a few years. In August 1983 Trish and I were married just in time to be transferred to Anchorage, Alaska. I would relocate and spend my first 4 months of married life living 1500 miles from my wife while she finished up college in Seattle.
