Tom's Story
Life
Not too long after graduation I found myself living in San Francisco I wasn't protesting the war in Viet Nam but I was using the word "peace" quite a lot. That is where Uncle Sam found me. Because I wasn't enrolled in college or not married or rich and my hair was getting a little long, I soon took up residence at Fort Lewis WA. I spent New Years there before moving on to Ft Gordon GA. where I spent the next 10 weeks learning to operate radios and other related equipment. Then it was on to Ludwigsburg W. Germany. I spent the next 18 months with the 34th signal Battalion bouncing back an forth between Krabbenloch and Kelly Barracks just outside of Stuttgart. Following a long trip to someplace we "never were" I returned home to a vastly different country than the one I left. ...Expand for more
I promptly choose to forget the fact that I am a veteran.
Early in 1970 I returned to San Francisco to work as a bus driver, while I waited for my apprenticeship as a plumber to start.
My Spouse Debbi and I met in San Mateo CA, she was the friend of a coworker (bus driver)that was in 1970.
My Kids: We have Three girls all grown all married with kids (grand kids) Oldest two are living in No. CA and the last is living and working in Las Vegas and has just given us our 7th grandchild.
I retired early in 2004 after a long career as a Sanitary Engineer better known in some circles as a "Plumber"
