Tom's Story
Life
Life has been very good to me! I moved from Parsippany, New Jersey, to Monroe, Louisiana, in 1974, leaving behind a lot of old friends. I finished elementary school in Louisiana, went to HS & university there, all the time working as a radio DJ to pay for school. I finished graduate school at LSU in 1992 and moved to Japan. I have been living in Japan for 17 years now, working as an author, broadcaster, and as associate professor of linguistics at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies, where I teach English & American culture. My wife, Rotalyn, is from the Philippines. I travel a lot in Asia...Expand for more
& sometimes back to the US to visit family & friends.

College
AT NLU (now ULM) I was on Student Government, the Pow Wow, The Helicon, Phi Alpha Theta and president of Sigma Tau Delta.
Workplace
My first minimum wage job -- Kitchen worker at Podnuh's BBQ, the original store on Louisiville Avenue, 1978! With Joey Rivoire (r.i.p.) and Jon Novak. Louisiana radio stations from 1978-1990: KUZN, KMLB, K-104, & Magic 106. In Japan, I still do voiceovers in English for radio nationwide, train & platform announcements, and industrial videos for Toyota Motors.
