Tom's Story

Tom's schools include James S. Hogg Elementary School, Adamson High School, Duncanville High School. He graduated from the University of North Texas (English, Journalism). He recently retired from the UT-Dallas McDermott Library as the communications officer and event planner. In his journalism career he personally interviewed people such as Mickey Mantle, Jim Palmer, Darrell Royal, Arthur Ashe, Rod Laver, John McEnroe, Jimmy Connors, Bjorn Borg, Chris Evert, Yvonne Goolagong, Billie Jean King, Bart Starr, Joe Namath, Roger Staubach, Dickey Maegle, Bear Bryant, Ross Perot, Lamar Hunt, and so on. He was general manager of a minor league hockey team and coordinator of the Dallas Host Committee's Hospitality Center for the World Cup. It has been a terrific ride...Expand for more

He writes and edits two statewide philatelic magazines and studies genealogy that includes an uncle who was the first consensus All-America football player from Texas, National Football Hall of Famer Botchey Koch; an uncle who played on the NFL World Champion Cleveland Rams in 1946, George Koch; and Friedrich Ernst, who received a league of land in Austin's Colony in 1831 and is known as the "Father of German Immigration to Texas." As of May 2014 he and his wife have three grandsons to play with along with four dogs. To Adamson grads - Was only at Big A one year with my small class of JS Hogg grads - David McGee, Iris Belk, Mike Teubner, Nancy Nystrom, Martha Jett, Sherry Johnson, plus some Hogg 59ers.
