Tom's Story
Life
After high school at John Muir, I attended Pasadena City College until I was drafted into the army in 1969. I was trained at Fort Ord in infantry. I became a paratrooper at Fort Benning and parachute rigger at Fort Lee, Virginia. Then I was sent to Viet Nam. I entered college at Cal Poly in 1971 as an architect major with a minor in urban planning. I married my wife Laurie my senior year in 1975 and got a paid internship as an urban planner with the City of Arcadia the same year. Arcadia hired me as an Assistant City Planner the following year. We started off living in a small apartment in Arcadia and I would walk to work through a large park. My son Joshua was born in that apartment in 1976. My wife and I both became Christians that same year. The week following the birth of my son, we moved into our first house in Monrovia where two and a half years later my daughter Rachel was born. It was a home birth and the doctor let me deliver her. In 1979 I was hired as a City Planner for the City of Lompoc, Ca...Expand for more

We moved to San Antonio, Texas for 22 months and then to Centerville, Ohio, in 2005 and to Whispering Pines, N.C. in 2008. My son Josh is a Pastor in Santa Maria. He is married with two girls. My baby, Christina, graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis. She was an MMA fighter and she and her husband Luke Riddering owned a gym called Pit North in Atascadero, Ca.
