Tom's Story
Why does it feel like I'm writing a personal ad?
I am 5'11" 190# very athletic. Through the years I remain an emotionally stable and happy person. I have no social diseases, allergies, or nervous ticks; a fully developed sense of humor--all kinds...has served me well. I am flexible and without calcified neurotic habits. I have a doctoral degree AND intelligence but my education in life is ongoing. A seeker, a dreamer of dreams and in love with romance. Yet, I am a bit eccentric...in a cute kind of way.
Always passionate about many things other than sex, I love fresh water, anticipation, a well turned phrase, most things Irish, great ideas, simple pleasures, nice surprises, smells, things of beauty, and acts of gentle kindness
My life over the last 18 years has been designed and scheduled solely around my children. It is not entirely clear where "I", my interests, end and...Expand for more
my children begin. I have been the custodial parent of my three babies(I will forever see them thus) and they had my primary attention. I have lived my life, with deliberation, to be an example to my kids. Now they have matured into fine adults: Patrice (we call her Ellie)-28, Mary-26, and Tim-22 who has just graduated from the U of M.
My generation, on the whole, have not been very good parents. I was resolved to do this right---even if I did nothing else. If we do not do justice by our children, who trust us completely, who are totally innocent for whatever problems we have created in our own lives, and who's whole future rests upon the decisions we make-----what else could ever possibly matter? It has been the best years of my life.
And yet, and yet I must now redirect my life, find new purpose. Maybe I'll go back and practice law, or maybe teach at a local University, perhaps the Peace Corp.
