Tom's Story
My story, lets see....where do I begin. After high school I joined the Navy. Left for basic training in Waukegan Ill in October 3 days after my 19th birthday. After basic training I went to school in Lakehurst NJ and after training I was assigned to the Naval Air Facility in Sigonella Sicily. Returned home on leave and got married to a girl from Holden Mass that I had been dating for about a year and a half. We had a daughter Cindy who was born in Naples Italy. After getting out of the Navy I worked for my dad for a while. Had a second child Michael. Couldn't find decent paying work so I went back in the Navy for 2 more years and was stationed aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS John F Kennedy based in Norfolk VA. Left shortly afterward for a 7.5 month cruise of the Mediterranean. When I got out of the Navy I enrolled in East Coast Aerotech in Lexington Ma. and received my FAA Airframe and Powerplant License. get services) at the Worcester Airport where I finish my pilot training and received my private pilots license. Got divorced and remarried (not at the same time and not to the same person) just thought I would make that a little clearer. Left that job in April of 1984 to take a job as an aircraft mechanic for CIGNA's Corporate Aviation Department at Bradley Airport in Connecticut. I have been married to my sole mate Janie for the last 28 years. We have 4 beautiful grandchildren, Scott 20, Megan, 17, Tommy, 12, and Hope, 7. I Retired from CIGNA at the age of 60 in 2013 after 29.5 years, 20 of them as the Vice President of Aviation. Janie and I live in Southwick Ma and spend a lot of time traveling in our motorhome. We have been to all 50 States and numerous countries. Retiring at 60 was the best thing I have done. It gave us the opportunity to see this great country of ours. We are eternally grateful for Gods blessings. That is the abridged version of my life.
