Tom's Story
Life
Entered the world in 1935. Went to schools in Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, West Virginia, and in Los Angeles: Sierra vista Elementary, Woodrow Wilson High School (in El Sereno)and _finally El Monte High. Married to Betty McCulloch (class of 1955, EMUHS) since 1958. Two years active duty, U.S. Navy serving on USS Kearsarge CVS33 working in "X" Division (edited the "POD"). Some old buddys were Mel Adams, David and Dan Levin, "Frosty" Dennis. In 1959, transfered to Anti-Submarine Squadron 37 (Yeoman in charge of the Personnel Office) at Los Alamitos Naval Station. FINALLY finished college in 1962 by attending what was then known as Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences (now California State University at Los Angeles). a sophomore in college and our lovely granddaughter is in 8th grade). Currently do volunteer work with a Preservation Foundation in Glendora and Trail Patrols/Visitor Center work for the Forest Service in Angeles Natl Forest. Recently appointed to the City of Glendora's Trail Commission and serve on the Coordinating Council for Glendora.Wouldn't change a thing....need about 20-25 more years more to take care of everything!
Workplace
Started with Standard Oil Company of California WOI in Feb. 1961 in the accounting office. Progressed through District Office Staff Assistant to two different Division Staff Assistant jobs to Administrative Supervisor in La Habra, Marketing. In 1986 became Senior Retail Presentative and finally Senior Territory Manager. Survived at least three reorganizations and don't think I would change a thing. Best people I ever worked with!!
