Toni's Story

Well, my story since high school has had a lot of turns in the road, but it has brought me to a place that I love. I had gotten married four days after turning 18, and it turned out to be a huge mistake, and caused a lot of pain in my life. I am able to use it in a positive way, however, to help other women that I come in contact with that have had similar experiences in their lives. After my ex, I was able to travle a bit with a few friends, and joined a carnival in CA. I traveled with them for a little over a year. We joined up in Sacramento, and went to Modesto, Santa Cruz, several places in CA. It was fun for the time, when I was young, healthy, and was into sleeping in the game booths most of the time. But hey, got most all my rides for free! The ride jocks were all friends of mine, and being the smallest young girl working the strip, they all looked out for me, so it was fun. It took me a long time to be able to trust men again though. Until I met a wonderful man in my life that helped me along the way. A truly southern gentleman that I have now been with, and married to, for almost 20 years. I have a 22 year-old daughter who just had my first grand baby, a girl, Arabella. I am so proud of her, she is beautiful!! I was into nursing until I got into a car accident that broke a bone in my back that required surgery, which actually made it wors...Expand for more
e, and now I live with pain most all the time, but life is still pretty good. I have a very supportive husband that takes care of me wonderfully, a fantastic family, and the lord never lets me down. Unfortunately I have to be on disability, but I have it pretty good compared to many others out there. I worked at the old Hillhaven Convalescent Center in Vancouver for a couple years. I was wrong on my timeline of schools and jobs, with dates, I'm horrible with dates, I left there to go to School at Vancouver School of Beauty, and had to leave for a couple of reasons. One was carple tunnle. The other was that my grandmother had a stroke and I had to quit school, move in to her basement apartment, and take care of her. I didn't have to, I wanted to. I loved having that time with her before she passed away, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. That's where I was working when I got into the accident that disabled me. I have four cats that I have raised from the bottle, two of them from 4 days old, so they are my babies now. The good lord has surrounded me with some wonderful friends that I am so thankful for, so I guess you could say that I am just a happy person. I had a rough time getting here, but to me, it was worth it, I have so much love in my life surrounding me, that I wouldn't trade it for anything! And really, part of the journey was really fun so far!!
