Tony's Story
Life
Ah yes, here is the place to list all of my accomplishments for all to see....
Actually, I've stayed close to home since graduating in 1977. I still live here in Delaware. I was married in 1989 and became a father the next day (just kidding)...actually it was a year later. My only child, a son, is now entering high school.
Working in education keeps my school memories "fresh" as being a teacher today means you must draw on all of your experiences. It is fun to watch some of my students try and pull the same "stunts" we did. Despite the new technology, MTV, and increased government scrutiny on public education, it still comes down to the same teacher-student relationship that has existed for years. Thought there are some frustrating moments, I still get a great deal of satisfaction in being involved in the lives of my students.
School
It's hard to get away from my high school experience for too long. I teach in the same district now and many of my former teachers are still working in the field or have become administrators. Several also have since retired.

e experiences I (we) had in school because I (we) went to school with most of the same people from K through 12 and even college. The "neighborhood" school made us all share a common experience which is why re-unions are so touching and emotional. Having said that, I encourage you to attend the next CHS reunion.
Workplace
It is quite an experience to be on the other side of the desk now. School has been my life. After graduating college, I took a teaching position in a small private school in Newark. There I taught 6th, 7th and 8th grade history for 12 years. It was a fantastic experience, but something was missing. In 1994, I got a break with an opening in a middle school in the Brandywine School district. I have been there ever since.
Teaching is my life. I still enjoy the long vacations and giving my friends in industry and the office a bunch of grief because "they have to work in the summer," but it is not without sacrifice. Though teaching is not a glamour profession by any means, and you myust certainly forgo a larger salary, there is great satisfaction in the task. I hope to keep teaching well into my 60s.
